MENTAL DISORDERS : A MAJOR GLOBAL IMPACT

Step 1 : Becoming aware of the problem

One in four people in the world will be affected by a mental disorder at some point in their lives (1)

Mental disorders affect all countries in the world, all people regardless of age, sex, religion, socio-economic background (1)

More than 800,000 people commit suicide each year (2)

Mental disorders therefore affect millions of lives around the world.

Primary care professionals and community workers are best placed to identify mental disorders early and organize prevention, support, initial management and referral if required. These diseases are on the increase because they are often associated with other diseases, cancer, AIDS, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases… or a traumatic event in life.

Today, digital development facilitates access to information, access to training, and the sharing of experiences. This is why several partners have joined forces to develop this collaborative platform and offer free access to quality training for healthcare professionals who wish to upskill in mental health.

To take into account local realities, and in particular the very variable level of internet access, training modules can be completed online but also downloaded for offline learning, at each learner’s pace. Thus, everyone will be able to use the downloads to build their own "digital library", and review the modules developed under the expert supervision of Professor Driss Moussaoui, according to the cases which will arise in their practice.

This online training complements traditional exchanges between healthcare professionals, either face-to-face or via video-conferencing. It is first deployed in Mali and Senegal and will then be adapted based on the requests from other countries.

THE 12 MODULES

Step 2: find out what you will learn

The training course consists of an introductory module and 11 modules on different disorders / themes.

The estimated time to complete the entire training course is approximately 15 hours, but this must be done at your own pace.

Each module includes text and animated graphics accompanied by a voice-over (don't forget to turn the sound on!) in order to leverage both visual memory and auditory memory

Each module is interspersed, at regular intervals, with interactive quizzes to reinforce the acquisition of knowledge
